Hi, I use Arch and xfce!

Hi,

I'm Shane, I'm running xfce on Arch, and it's great!  I made the jump from UbuntuStudio recently.  I really like Ubuntu, it's a good way to get started and learn about Linux.  I also LOVE Arch, definitely a learning experience to install and configure, but very rewarding once you start to get the hang of it (soooo up to date).

I am a huge fan of the xfce desktop.  It's very lightweight, and if you spend the time you can make some very attractive desktops to work with.  I enjoy making custom and cool looking xfce desktops.  The panel customization options are very cool, the ability to use alpha layers in backgrounds (panel or desktop), and i really like the background gradient (awesome with alpha layers in the background!)

Anyway, hello all, and thanks for a cool lightweight desktop environment.

Ta,
Shane

Re: Hi, I use Arch and xfce!

Hi ShaneHutter. Welcome! big_smile
The best experience so far with Xfce I had during Xubuntu 12.04 LTS. Flawless.
I tried Xubuntu 14.04 (with Xfce 4.10) but it did feel 'a little less' and I had icon-stabillity issues.
With Xfce 4.12 via PPA that is right now, but Xubuntu feels a little 'soft'.
