Howdy, I would like to request a feature to be added to Thunar.
Other FMs like Windows Explorer or Nautilus have the ability to have a third pane for previewing selected files. Thunar has the just the two panes, one for the filesystem shortcuts (like mount points and common folders) and one for the current directory. There should really be a third pane that allows users to preview the file selected, be it plaintext, an image, a video, or another common filetype.
Here is a screenshot of the Windows Explorer FM with the example preview pane: http://i.imgur.com/sXwQhqS.png

Hello and welcome.
The place for enhancement requests is the bug tracker. That being said, one such request already exists: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8568. Feel free to add your voice to it.
Keep in mind though, that one of the developer's goals is to keep Thunar (and all Xfce components) light, fast and efficient and not burden it with countless features. They provide the custom actions feature to allow you to extend Thunar yourself, or if you are able to program, the capability to create your own Thunar plugins.
Please remember to mark your thread [SOLVED] to make it easier for others to find
