I've edited your original post and removed your email account information - its not relevant to the issue and you probably don't want to be advertising it
When creating the new account, select the "Remote GMail Mailbox" option instead. Thats what I use and the connection is fine.

Oh. I completely missed that there was a Remote Gmail Mailbox option.

Okay. Now I can't seem to get it to connect to my pop3 account.

What is in the log file ("View Log" from the properties screen)?

Is this a new connection that you are trying to make, or has an existing one stopped working?
Can you connect to your pop account using your regular email client?

I can connect with my regular email client and it's an existing connection that never seems to have worked

Your provider would have provided you with the pop connection information. Did you enter it all in including the "Advanced..." section (ssl and port if required). If you don't mind sharing, which mail provider are you using?
I have a zoho mail account and can connect via pop and it works with the mail watcher plugin. It required SSL/TLS on an alternate port and that port number is 995 (entered in non-standard port box).

My ISP is Virgin Media (though I started off with NTL World). I switched the account to imap and it works fine with that.
