Hello and welcome to the Xfce forums.
Preamble:
Before you ask a question, please make sure you've searched the Forum. You can also try the Wiki, it contains a great FAQ, Tips & Tricks as well as How To's.
Things to include in your post:
As detailed as possible an explanation of the issue as well as a list of the things that you have tried to resolve it yourself. Explain what you are trying to do, what you are expecting will happen, and what is actually happening.
The Xfce version that you are running (from the main menu, select "About Xfce" or from a terminal window, run)
xfce4-about
Your Distribution (e.g. Xubuntu, Mint, Fedora, Debian, Arch, Slackware, OpenSuse, etc) and Version
Any error messages that you experience. If you don't see any error messages, try starting the application from a terminal window and post all the errors that are displayed
Any other information that you think may be useful (its better to have too much info than not enough)
Using BBCode (forum tags):
Embedding special forum codes within the text of your post allows you to apply formatting to your post to make it easier to read. Especially important is the Code tag that allows you to format outputs. A complete list of BBCodes can be found here. Please don't go overboard, remember that the purpose of these codes is to make your posts easier to read.
Uploading an image:
First, upload your image to an image hosting site like imgur or imgbb. Then, post back the link that is generated. Please consider using the "small thumbnail" or "bb code" link that is provided by the image hosting site after your image has been uploaded. If you are using Xfce 4.12, you can also use xfce4-screenshooter (Screenshot) to automatically upload your screen shot to imgur or zimagez.
Marking a thread as [solved]:
If you are the creator of the thread and are satisfied that your question or issue has been resolved, please mark the thread [solved] by clicking "Edit" on your original post and prepending the tag [SOLVED] to the title in the Subject field. This will make it easier for other community members facing the same issue to easily locate a resolution.
Getting the attention of a moderator:
If the need arises to communicate with a moderator regarding a general question or a post that you have a concern about, please use the "Report" link that is available below every post.
Other hints:
You can copy and paste output from the terminal by first highlighting the text in the terminal, then either:
shift CTRL-C to copy and shift CTRL-V to paste, or
middle-click (or simultaneously click both buttons) to paste
If necessary, you can display hardware information using the lspci command in a terminal. Examples:
general summary of hardware:
lspci
detailed information about your video card:
lspci -k | grep -A2 VGA
detailed information about your network card:
lspci -k | grep -A2 Network
Thank you for reading and enjoy the Forums!
Please remember to mark your thread [SOLVED] to make it easier for others to find
