There was some discussion a while back about the XFCE 4.12 PPA not being an option for the users of Ubuntu 14.04. I just checked it and it's now showing that it works for both 12.04 and 14.04.
When I used a previous version of Mint, I added the XFCE 4.12 PPA to my sources - after first adding the 4.10 one, as instructed - and had zero issues. But I am just a little bit more cautious now, lol. So I wanted to ask: Is anyone is using the 4.12 PPA with Ubuntu 14.04 or one of the distros that are built from it, such as Mint 17? If so, did you add the 4.10 PPA to your sources as well? The instructions state that it must be done for 12.04, but say nothing one way or the other about 14.04.
Here is the website address for the XFCE 4.12 PPA:
Xfce 4.12 packages
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/xfce-4.12
When looking for it, I also found this one:
PPA for Xubuntu Developers
https://launchpad.net/~xubuntu-dev/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
It is available for 14.04 and 14.10. Is anyone using it on 14.04 (Mint 17, et cetera)? Is anyone using both it and the above 4.12 one?

i don't like the fact that when you view the roadmap there's no information about when 4.12 will be released. is the xfce project even active? I suppose it is to some degree if there's a 4.12 ppa and there's packages in it. The last date i see work done was early september. I love XFCE but I want to be sure i'm using a desktop that's well supported and has active development.
Side note: i am currently running Xubuntu 14.04 and will try to enable these ppa's and see if my XFCE updates to 4.12, i'll report back after I do that.
UPDATE: I enabled the PPA and everything is working just fine within Xubuntu 14.04. I report back any issues I encounter but I do notice the packages are only 4.11 and not 4.12 yet

What, last month, lol? You DO know that XFCE isn't Microsoft with a billion-dollar budget and legions of paid developers all working on assigned projects on the clock, right? XFCE is composed of a relative (possibly literal) handful of dedicated developers, doing their development for free when and as they can fit it in between working presumably full-time jobs to actually support themselves, seeing to their families, et cetera... Right?
I think they're doing pretty good for volunteers who give away their work and get b!tched at a lot for not doing so at a much faster rate.

i think you may have taken my post in the wrong way or in an extreme that I never intended. i fully understand the dev's do their work for free and in between presumably full time jobs and families. i was merely making an observation that the roadmap isn't filled in and actually it has dates crossed out. and actually I had looked into the XFCE development a couple months ago and there was actually no packages in the 4.12 ppa at all BUT i see they're hard at work which I fully appreciate.

You're right, I overreacted. I apologize.

Hoping the developers have the PPA for utopic soon, my Xubuntu 14.10 can't use the previous one, so no updates for me.

The first PPA I mentioned in post #1 shows Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, 14.10, and 15.04 in the drop-down list.
BtW, since you don't mind using short-support distros, you could choose to just wait until next month when Ubuntu (et cetera) 15.04 is released; I assume it will use have Xfce 4.12 since I have seen it mentioned in regards to the 15.04 beta.

Just for the sake of completeness: The PPA works quite fine for me on Xubuntu 14.04 64bit. I use it since... dunno... more than a year "without" problems. Now even on an ARMv7 SOC (but not all packages are available for this platform unfortunately).
