Auto DPI not happening.

Setup:
XFCE 4.10.0
Xubuntu 13.10
Xorg 7.7
Thinkpad t440s 14" screen with 1920x1080 resolution (~158DPI)
Docking station with 24" 1920x1200 reslution (~94DPI)

My usage pattern is that I mostly use the computer in docking station with only external screen and sometimes "on the road" I use the internal screen.

The issue is that if setting the font DPI to auto then it becomes 96, always.

Some research shows that even though the drivers and xorg is finding the correct measurement the reported DPI is always 96. Some search on the net indicates that this is by design(!) and that it is expected that the DE is supposed to do the calculations and then set the DPI through randr.
See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/589485

My opinion is that xorg should report the DPI of the connected monitors to the layer above, but that is me.

Are there any way of getting auto DPI again or is there a plan of fixing it?
