[Solved] No Thunderbird notifications

Using Xubuntu 13.04 and noticed for some reason I no longer get notified when a new email arrives. Was wondering if anyone else was having this issue or does it seem to be distro specific?

It's hard to provide an answer without knowing what you use for an email checker/notifier.

I am using the "Xfce4 Mailwatch Plugin 1.1.0" applet, which sits on one of my panels, interfaces with Thunderbird (my current email app), and can check multiple email boxes. It appears to be functioning fine here.

Is that what Xubuntu 13.04 uses?

It turned out to be some settings in my compton.conf file. Excluding some shadows on notifications made some notifications not show up at all. Everything works now.
