Hi , everyone
Fedora has some very crappy desktops, so I decided to install Xfce, but I didn't use the the official F17 build with Xfce, because it still has the crappiest in the world logon screen (hi, Gnome).
I don't know why they still keep all the gnome stuff inside this build. I definately don't want it.
Please, help me to install Xfce 4.10 on top of the Minimal Fedora (which doesn't have any GUI related packages, btw).
The regular 'yum groupinstall XFCE' stuff doesn't work - it drags and install all the packages, but the logon screen never appears...

When I installed Fedora 17 on my laptop, I did it from the install DVD. (I used a custom partition layout because I was replacing a messed-up Fedora 16, and wanted to preserve /home.) Xfce was the only DE I installed, and everything came up fine the first time. This sounds more like a Fedora issue than an Xfce issue, so you might be better off asking on the Installation board at the Fedora Forum, http://fedoraforum.org where you'll get more focused responses than you can here.

Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.

The Xfce spin for F18 which is in beta uses LightDM. You can use it with F17 too, see https://tacticalvim.wordpress.com/2013/ … in-fedora/

Thanks! A lot!
I didn't know that there are standalone packages for this kind of software))
