[Solved] Places plugin xfce panel

Why does it always start as an icon, if i had set it to show it like "places"????? Is there anything i can do to change it forever? in xfce 4.8 this used to work fine...

This and several other bugs should be fixed in new versions of xfce4-places-plugin. What version are you using?

If you cannot upgrade, then the workaround is to force a configuration saving by executing:

$ xfce4-panel -s
