I've been using ubuntu with gnome for years. I wanted to try a different desktop environment, so I am giving XFCE4 a try. I have everything working the way I want, but I haven't found a way to restart "X" in XFCE like you can in a gnome (service gdm restart).
Is there a way to accomplish this with XFCE?

If you are using a newer version of Ubuntu, the DM has changed to lightdm. So, try this instead:
sudo service lightdm restart

Yes. Just logout of your Xfce session.
