Hi,
as I can't find OpenSuSE packages for the 4.10 release, I compiled and installed 4.10 in a user directory (~/myxfce).
How do I start this "user version" of XFCE?
I made a copy of /usr/share/xsessions/xfce.desktop and called it /usr/share/xsessions/myxfce.desktop
In this file I changed these two lines:
Name=myXfce Session
Exec=/home/karl/myxfce/bin/startxfce4
But it doesn't work. If I choose myxfce at startup I still get the old XFCE4 version.
What else do I have to do?
Thanks
Karl

I'm running OpenSuse 12.1 and Xfce 4.10. It works perfectly.
I'm using this repo : http://download.opensuse.org/repositori … SUSE_12.1/
(weird, opensuse software website is currently down. Maybe just have to wait a bit ...)
About having 2 versions of Xfce, I read somewhere that it is strongly not recommended.
Xfce is NOT Xubuntu. Bugs in Xubuntu don't mean that Xfce is buggy ...

Hi,
it's working now, although yast2 didn't want to show me the 4.10 packages. I had to install ristretto (was deleted before) to make the change to 4.10.
thanks a lot
