I have been using Linux full time on my everyday computer for about 6 months now and I have hopped from distro to distro and have tried pretty much every desktop environment out there. I have finally settled on XFCE 4.10 using the new Linux Mint 13 RC. Such a smooth desktop environment and offered pretty much everything I have been looking for. And its stable!
About me....I've always had some interest in Linux but up until 6 months ago I had not taken the dive. If it weren't for Netflix and Blu Rays I would never boot into Windows again. One day I guess. So I am from Port Angeles Washington and I am a huge baseball fan. Hmmm. Anything else?

I think you'll like Xfce. I became partial to Xfce long before people decided they didn't like Gnome 3.
I found Xfce has more than adequate 'eye candy' for an OS and is pretty light on the resourses.
I got rid of Mi¢ro$oft Windoze ages ago. Couldn't help but notice that when I put Linux on a computer that did have Windows XP on it, the computer started up in 1 minute instead of 5 or 6. It also shut down in 5-10 seconds instead of 2 minutes.
Mind you, a movie fan I am not, so things like Netflix are really not my thing at all.
I use Xubuntu on my PC. I tried LMDE when it first came out. But I didn't have any luck with it; the day after I installed it, for Xfce, I would get a lot Gnome things, like Nautilus, happening. Kind of a shame, really. But Xubuntu is working well enough for me right now.
