hi-
In cygwin if I type startx -- -multiwindow -clipboard and in my .xinitrc have
exec xfwm4 &
exec xterm -geometry 80x66+0+0 -name login i get a terminal.
Any help is greatly appreciated!! TIA The desktop looks very cool and the mouse works with different dialogs popping up, but the applications won't launch.
Then if I type dbus-launch startxfce4 at the xterm window, I get a desktop with these errors appearing in xterm:
/usr/bin/startxfce4: X server already running on display :31
/etc/xdg/xfce4/xinitrc: line 171: ssh-agent: command not found

Hi-
I think I am getting closer now. I put in dbus-launch startxfce and in the .initrc xfwm4 last. I noticed in the task manager in windows when I use that method many xfce processes are loaded but with a blank screen. I will work on it this evening. 17:30 GMT -5 thanks

okay... i give up for now.
the closest I got was desktop loading with the panel and orage working. the applications wouldnt launch and they said failed to fork a child. it kept saying trying to open in /usr/bin but in cygwin it seems to locate things in just bin.
the only way I could consistently get the desktop to load with albeit limited functionality was to rename xfce4-sesssion to something else.
i wish i knew how to get the applications to launch.
thanks and hope you have a good week.
