GIO/GVfs - Gigolo

Ubuntu 10.4, Xfce 4.6

I have xfce4-goodies installed, near the bottom of the goodies list (related plugins) it has "GIO/GVfs frontend to manage connections to remote file systems (Gigolo)", I do not see the Gigolo program in the menu, running it from terminal gives an error saying it is not installed.  Is the GIO/GVfs or Gigolo called something else in the goodies package?  I know it is part of Thunar in 4.8, but I can't upgrade at this point and browsing remote is something I do a lot with my gnome D.E.

Re: GIO/GVfs - Gigolo

If your using 4.8 then Thunar should be able to do what you want without Gigolo.  Make sure you have gvfs installed (with the correct options for what you want) and working correctly.  If you you run into anything let us know

Re: GIO/GVfs - Gigolo

Hi, I've a question about the problem that, with xfce 4.8, ftp locations cannot be saved as bookmarks.
Since I would like to save somewhere my ftp sites bookmarks ...
May I just keep using Gigolo until xfce 4.10 , or I will encounter problems ?

Re: GIO/GVfs - Gigolo

I didn't try Gigolo but I bet you can still use it.

I wrote this somewhere else already (maybe in reply to a post of your's even) but just to make sure you are aware: Xfce 4.10 will support remote bookmarks.
