How to authorize the power manager?

I've configured my netbook to suspend when I close the lid. When I close the lid nothing happens, and when I reopen it I see a popup that says "Power manager not authorized".

So, how do I authorize it?

I'm running XFCE 4.8.0, on Arch Linux on an Eee PC netbook.
