xfmedia plays "rhythmic garbage"

Hello,

I installed xfmedia and tried to play two known good mp3 files. All I hear is a complex rhythmic sound, not even resembling to the songs

What can I do to reduce the problem and pinpoint the cause?

I think xfmedia isn't updated anymore. Try the mediaplayer Parole instead:

That is such a sad news. I love it's minimalistic interface. It is my favorite media player for X.
I just checked the home page and it was last modified in November 2008.
