Just got this in my mail-box:
Due to excessive spamming on the fora (http://forum.xfce.org) we are forced to take some severe measures.
In one of the coming days all accounts that never posted a message on the forum and all accounts that haven't logged in the last 300 days will be deleted.
So, I'm posting so I don't get auto-removed from the forum.
If you received the same message and need to post to keep from getting removed, post a follow-up to this message.

Same as previous comments, ie posting to keep access to forum current.

I received message stating that if I don`t log in and post a message, my account is supose tobe deleted.
Therefore, I am opening topic with a sole purpose of avoiding such faith for an account.
Drastic measures are sometimes necessary but they are mostly not wanted ones etc.
Maybe people having account should be given some time, so to say, month or two,
while account is frozen so they can revive their accounts in that time period, while sending
few more warnings during that period.

I am not going to send more mails for this issue. And if there would be a way to inactivate accounts without deleting them i would do that but it doesn't seem to be possible with smf

Even though I haven't been very active here, I'm a 4 years old member and have been using Xfce for a little longer, so I'd like to keep my account.
At least the admins are kind enough to tell us that such measures are being taken, give us a chance to keep our accounts, and are doing something about spam. So thanks for all that.
@El_Angelo:
I don't know much about SMF, but couldn't you just add a few preventive restrictions for new members, like no URLs allowed unless they've been members for at least 10 days or so, or filtering posts against some keywords like "pills", "nude", etc?

Me too. I like to follow the threads, but don't post because I'm just learning.

Me too, don't want my account deleted.

I don't understand how killing accounts that don't post will reduce spam.

Yes I do.
Let me change first few hundred, so I can see how much time will it take.
Maybe someone else will also join.
