Using Orage with Ubuntu in Gnome desktop

I want to open a pdf file in evince on a daily basis and set it up in Orage. Is that what the 'procedure' box is for and how do I type in the command. It says something about typing in all escape etc characters. What does that mean? Oh...did I mention I know next to nothing about the command line!
Thanks

Re: Using Orage with Ubuntu in Gnome desktop

IF you only want to open a certain file every day at the same time, that is simple and yes, you can use procedure alarm for that.
For example:
evince /tmp/doc/ubuntupocketguide-v1-1.pdf
Escapa characters are needed for more complex cases.

Re: Using Orage with Ubuntu in Gnome desktop

Well I did that and tested all combinations of the alarm (sound, visual and procedure) until I was blue in the face (and yes I remembered the slash at the beginning  of the file name) and it seems the alarm settings aren't being saved. After I set it up and save it and then open the dialog box again none of the settings are showing up. It's just showing empty settings as if I am opening it for the first time.

This was installed on Ubuntu 8.10 from the repository.
