I recently install xfce on a new archlinux system. I cannot get it to recognize audio cd's. It simply behaves like there was no cd in the drive. It works as expected with other cd's though. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Greg.

What program are you trying to play the CD with? What error message does it give?
You can't mount an audio CD, you have play/rip it.

I have tried xfmedia, mplayer, and rhythmbox. They don't give any error messages. There is nothing at all to showing that there is a cd in the tray. I know I can't mount it but it wont show up in the audio players or in thunar. It simply doesn't show up at all.

I have been given a solution on a different forum.

I am not sure why the different music players don't work but VLC does. So the problem is partially solved.
