how to make a .sh script executable in xfce4?

Hi im new to xfce.i am trying to run an auto package script for xaralx,but it always tells me permission denied.
in other distros i right click,select properties and select make executable.but this option is not present in xfce4.
so how do i make it executable?any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Are you using Thunar for a file manager? Right click, properties, permission and check the box "Allow this to run as a program."

OR

In a terminal chmod +x filename.sh (include the path if your not in the same directory).
