Install XFCE 4.4.3 in Linux

Good morning everyone. I will install the graphical environment - XFCE. I have already download the tarball ( name of it: xfce-4-4-3.tar.tar ) and I don't know how can I install and run it. I know only that I must install it from Linux terminal, because I will install it in Linux system. Can someone help me? Contact with me. Thank you and goodbye.

Re: Install XFCE 4.4.3 in Linux

Hi , you are download the source code of xfce4. To install for this way , you need build all components. If you whish install xfce4 for easy way , download "The graphical installer" , change permissons to 755

chmod 755 xfce4-4.4.3-installer.run

And runit as root user

./xfce4-4.4.3-installer.run

you need install first the toolchain (gcc, gcc+,binutils,bison,make,automake,autoconf...etc.) directly from your package manager.
Also, you may need to install some extra packages, which contain the header and development file.

Cheers and good luck

Re: Install XFCE 4.4.3 in Linux

I would suggest if you are "new" and unfamiliar with installing from source that you try and install it through your package management system. You did not mention which distro you are using but there should be a package available
to you through it.
