How to add icons to desktop?

Is there a way to take an icons from the menu list and put a copy of it on the desktop?

Its very easy in Gnome. How is it done in Xfce? (using ver. 4.4.2)

xfce don't support drag an drop items from panel menu's, but you can open /usr/share/applications directory via Thunar and drag your prefered item fron this location in your desktop.
