How to make windows and panel translucent

I'm runnig Xubuntu 7.10 and I wanted to make the windows and panels translucent. I have the restricted drivers enabled and my video card is nvidia geforce 5200.

How can I enable these tasks?

Re: How to make windows and panel translucent

Hi !

If you speak french, you can read it else :

You have to change the option 'Xfwm/UseCompositing' from 0 to 1 in this file : ~/.config/xfce4/mcs_settings/wmtweaks.xml
If the option doesn't exist you must change an option here : Gestionnaires des paramètres Xfce >> Peaufinage de fenêtres [Something like {XFCE Parameters > > Windows' tuning} in the english menu]
When you have change an option, do the first step smile

You have now a new tab on Windows' tuning.

I hope it's understandable smile

Re: How to make windows and panel translucent

If you speak german try this.
Otherwise start

xfce-setting-show wmtweaks

from your Terminal and choose Compositor.  You can also find it in your menu - should be: Applications → Settings → Menu Editor → Windowmanager-Tweaks → Compositor
