Hello there.
I've tried xubuntu and am now using gentoo with xfce. Unfortunately, in this installation's shutdown dialogue, the sleep and hibernate buttons are missing. Do you guys know how I could perhaps set a use flag or something so that these are compiled in?
:?
Thank you

I've double-checked that ACPI is enabled in the kernel, and laptop-mode-tools is working, so... I'm reasonably sure that it's an xfce issue and not a lower-level issue.

I might be wrong here, but from the bit I've read on the topic, the version of Xfce Xubuntu/Ubuntu uses is a custom one made by the ubuntu devs. it seems they modified/recompiled things to roll their own, so to speak.

Yes, xubuntu has applied a patch to xfce4-session to enable suspend/hibernate. Bug about it here: http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2672
