Desktop Icons

Hi,

I've installed xfce-4.4.1, without any problems. However, I can't figure out how to get icons to work on my desktop (e.g. an icon to double click for say emacs to run). I can get icons onto the desktop, but when I double click on them, they simply open up in emacs, with a short list giving info about the file.

Any help would be great.

I have had this happen too but it was always because the information I had in the icon file was incorrect.  It shouldn't be a problem if you right click on your Home folder and select Desktop.  Then select "Create launcher" and fill in the requested information.  As long as I filled in valid information it has worked correctly every time for me.  Good luck!
