Does Mousepad back up files ?

I was surprised after editing a small file with Mousepad to discover
that it had not made a back-up copy of the previous version.
Have I missed something or is this feature not implemented yet ?
It would not seem difficult to implement: other editors all seem to do it.

IMHO just a waste of effort... it will only produce a lot of ~.tmp files on your system. Anyway it's not implemented and if if you really want it, create a feature request in the bugzilla.
