vte.pc missing ..

Trying to install xfce on openSuSe 10.1. The installer complains that it can't find vte.pc. I installed vte from YaST but to no avail.

xfce4-4.4RC2-installer.run graphical installer on openSuSE 10.1

screen msg: Terminal emulator widget (VTE) 0.11.11 or above. Specify location manually

When I enter the path to /opt/gnome/bin/vte it displays: The selected file is invalid. Please enter the exact location of the file vte.pc on your system.

You also need the vte devel package.

Re: vte.pc missing ..

I did that and installed ncurses and cups-devel and it compiled ok.

When I run xfce I get:

The login screen remains on screen.

No menu on mouse right click.

Windows cannot be resized or moved.

Menus pop up under the window.

No control panel on the bottom menu.
