Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

Is anyone on the forums using Xubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft and have
gone as far as to upgrade to 4.4 rc2 but have noticed that suddenly
the Right click > system > Time and Date no longer works.
If i run it ( time-admin ) as root it will execute but it dumps the core
if run as user from console.  Trying to get a confirmation before i post a bug.
Thanks.

Re: Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

I have Edgy Eft but I don't have a Time menu entry, nor if I run time-admin in a terminal.

I did a synaptic search for time-admin as a package, description and provided package, no results at all.

Re: Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

How did you install RC2 at all?
Did you delete the RC1 that is installed as a package from Xubuntu first?

Re: Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

I cheated, I built the new version on a working system in /opt then I copied /opt to CD. I formatted the / partition and reinstalled a server and copied /opt back again. Then I added bit and pieces as required, often using the Xubuntu packages as a reference. If I try and install x.deb and it needs y.deb then I installed y.deb manually. This works most of the time, I have had to install an awful lot of gnome though. I am having fun and the system works, not sure I'd recommend it though! :-)

Does that make sense?

Re: Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

Hmm, sounds like too much work for me wink

I downloaded the bin installer, but I am not sure if I should install it right now, or uninstall the Xfce package from Xubuntu before....

Anyone who did it before me?

Re: Xubuntu Edgy Eft upgrade to RC2 question

Hi all,
I have  aproblem with the upgrade to RC2 on Xubuntu Edgy Eft. I have copied the bin installer and when I am trying to lunch it it says "Unable to connect to Xserver. This installer requires X11 to work, please correct the problem and try again.". The same file, on a Slack 11.0 worked well. What is happening on Xbuntu (it's a fresh intall of Xbuntu) ?

Best regards,

Bogdan.
