GUI Installer suggestion

I haven't done any app programming but I have done some perl web programming. The GUI installer works great but how much would it take for it to remember what it has already done?

If the install fails on a dependancy towards the end it goes through the whole lot again.

Just a thought, I don't know what it would involve.

Well this requires a simple backend (like libxfce4util) for reading and writing config files, but most likely libxfce4util is not installated . If you have such a library is quite easy, but since the installer will be replaced by installit sooner of later, this is time spend in the wrong package.
