need help adding apps to systray

Hi,

This is my first time configuring XFCE and a GNU/Linux DE in general.

I have blueman Bluetooth manager and localsend installed. At first, they had an icon in the system tray at the top when they were open, but I removed it.

Now I cannot add it back again. The apps are not available in xfce4-panel settings.

How can I add a shortcut to an application to the panel that was previously removed, or for that matter, for an app that has this option available.

Re: need help adding apps to systray

The system tray is for applications/services that have tray icons or applets only. You can't put random applications into the tray. To use the system tray first make sure it's added to the panel in system settings>>panel. For Bluetooth manager you can run blueman-applet. Be sure it's enabled in the application. Other applications include nm-applet. You may need to add them to your autostart as well.

Is the system tray not the xfce4-panel plugin? There is no property "tray" in xfce4-panel settings.

Ah, system tray is a plugin I have to add to the panel. Now both apps are displayed in the panel.

For other readers: Click "Add" in panel settings and find system tray plugin.
