Desktop wallpaper and slideshow broken. (XFCE 4.20)

I use a script to download security camera images and have my desktop wallpaper set to them.

It USED to be that when the image was updated, the desktop image would change to the updated image.  Now, when the image files are updated, the images don't change on the desktop.

xfdesktop --reload reloads the icons but, does not affect the desktop wallpaper image.

If I go into desktop settings and click on the new image, it does not change the desktop image.  I have to load a different image and then switch back to get the desktop image to change. Restarting XFCE does update the image.

When I enable the "change the background" option, it works but after a few minutes, it locks up the desktop.  The mouse still moves but clicking on things does nothing.  I have to CTRL-BKSP to get out and restart XFCE.

Both issues are happening on multiple (all) machines.

Is this a bug?  Is there a fix to either/both problems?

Yes, it looks like a bug/regression. I don't see them listed in the current issues list. You may wish to create new bug reports for both items there.

I hate to ask you this but, could you create the bug reports for me?  I really don't want to sign up for yet another account [that I will never use].

The symptoms are as I described.
