How to stop Thunar 4.20.0 shifting columns

Hi, when we open a folder in Thunar 4.20.0 to show its contents. Everytime we move the cursor on a file, the list of file names shifts to the left and back, so that the first 3 or more characters are missing. This is extremely annoying. You are forced to show something of the 2nd column to prevent this. Which is exactly not what we want, we like to keep the open window small.

How can one avoid this shifting of columns (in list view) without being forced to show 2nd column or to create tiny filenames?

Side scrolling left and right is based on the window width as well as the column width. The column widths can be adjusted left to make it narrower removing the need for side scrolling. Also it shouldn't be scrolling with just a mouse hover unless there is some setting somewhere I'm unaware of.
