When I switch language to another one this change is not displayed

When I switch language to another one, this change is not displayed on the XFCE panel automatically. My key combination to switch layouts is Alt+Shift. I've also tried to restart the panel via:

xfce-panel --restart

It didn't help. I have XFCE 4.16 installed.

On my system, I had to add the Keyboard Layouts plugin to a panel in order to actually see which layout I am using.
