I have 2 Xfce panels, the original, default one (panel 0) and an extra one (panel 1). The default one was moved to the top of the desktop and panel 1 to the bottom. Panel 1 included all my app launchers and worked just fine. But now I want to remove panel 1, but there is no facility on the panel-preferences menu to do what should be a simple task. The best I can come up with is to remove all the launchers from panel 1, remove its opacity and then select 'automatically hide always'. But that does not remove it, even though it now looks invisible.
So is there a proper/correct way of removing panel 1?

When you open the panel preferences beside the panel name(panel 0 or panel 1) there is a + and a - button. With the correct panel listed hit the - button.

Thanks. I could not even see that option, as I was using a dark theme, and those two '+ - buttons' looked totally hidden. No mention of those buttons in Xfce documentation either, that I can see.
Panel 1 now removed.
