Does gnome-network-displays work in XFCE?

I'm trying to connect to a TV screen using Miracast.  The recommended software for doing this according to the internet is gnome-network-displays here: https://flathub.org/apps/org.gnome.NetworkDisplays

It uses xdg-desktop-portal's org.freedesktop.portal.ScreenCast, which does not seem to work on XFCE.  Is this really the case, or is there a solution?

arch linux wiki says that xfce does not have an xdg-desktop-portal back end and we should use xapp instead: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_Desktop_Portal  gnome, gtk and xapp backends for xds-desktop-portal are installed on my laptop, and these work fine with most other flatpak apps.  However, Door Knocker shows that ScreenCast portal is not supported.

Does this mean that Miracast is a no-go with XFCE?

My config:
$ cat /usr/share/xdg-desktop-portal/xfce-portals.conf
[preferred]
default=xapp;gtk;
org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Wallpaper=xapp;gtk;
org.freedesktop.impl.portal.Screenshot=xapp;gtk;
