Hi everyone,
Since the latest XFCE update (Thunar version: 4.20.0-1), I've been experiencing a crash whenever I try to open my Home directory (~) in Thunar. Other directories work fine, and downgrading to the previous version resolves the issue.
System: Arch Linux, XFCE
Issue: Thunar crashes only when accessing the Home directory.
Alternative File Managers: PCManFM works without any issues in the same directory.
Steps I've tried:
Checked for problematic symlinks in the Home directory — nothing unusual.
Any help?

Hello and welcome.
From a terminal window, run the following commands:
thunar -q
thunar $HOME
...and post back any terminal messages if it crashes.
Also, can you post back:
journalctl --user -b 0 | grep -i thunar
And finally, do you have any thunar coredumps?
coredump list | grep -i thunar

Hello, ToZ!
thunar -q
thunar $HOME(thunar:2835): GLib-GIO-CRITICAL **: 22:01:15.391: g_themed_icon_get_names: assertion 'G_IS_THEMED_ICON (icon)' failed
Speicherzugriffsfehler (Speicherabzug geschrieben)
journalctl --user -b 0 | grep -i thunar

Dez 25 22:01:15 i7-9700K systemd-coredump[2844]: Process 2835 (thunar) of user 1000 dumped core.
Terminal says no such command as "coredump". Probably I am doing something wrong there.

Sorry, that should of been:
coredumpctl list
...but it doesn't matter - you get the error message in the terminal window, which leads to https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/-/issues/1511. Looks like it will be released in the next point release.
Interesting that not everyone is getting this error though. Can you try a different icon theme?

Ok, till it is fixed I'll use PCManFM. Thanks for the Information.

I've tried already "Papirus" and "Elementary" Icons, it didn't help.

A pretty big Xfce update today on Arch, including Thunar packages. I haven't tried it yet, but I wasn't suffering from the bug.

This one did not fix it yet.

Hello All,
Just wanted to weigh in that I have experienced similar issues. Just for what it's worth. I have installed PCmanFM as a temporary workaround and anxiously await a resolution. All of the OP fit my experience to a tee. I haven't seen much about this occurring as mentioned so it could be my limited experience coming home to roost.
Cheers to all.
