and the NM entries were still in whisker menu even after a reboot. I then right clicked and hid them, and after a re-install of NM no new entries were created. how to create new entries and make the whisker menu option available after a right click on the launcher button?

Do you mean unhide the entries you hid? If so, look at ~/.local/share/applications for the entries. Delete those files (or delete the line in those files that reads "Hidden=True".
and make the whisker menu option available after a right click on the launcher button?
Not sure what this means. Can you explain?

upon right clicking the xfce menu launcher button on the panel you get a menu like panel, remove, move, about .... above the edit applications option is whisker menu which is grayed out

I guess the main question is > why did I have to hide anything? after removing NM and rebooting shouldn't the entries have been removed as well?
Offline
Depends on how it was installed and removed. If the launcher/.desktop file is in your home directory then they won't be removed. Either will the config files etc.
