Hi all, I am working since some years ago in CTK (gtk3 fork):
https://github.com/cafe-desktop/ctk
It is a gtk3 fork, and my intention is to keep it more stable along the time.
In my opinion gtk4 is an enemy of classic desktops, maybe xfce developers are interested in the port to ctk ?
More projects which maybe xfce can use:
vte fork using ctk: https://github.com/cafe-desktop/bte
gtksourceview fork using ctk: https://github.com/cafe-desktop/ctksourceview
libpeas fork using ctk: https://github.com/cafe-desktop/libbean
libcanberra fork using ctk: https://github.com/cafe-desktop/libkanberra
libwnck fork using ctk: https://github.com/cafe-desktop/libvnck
The other repos inside CAFE desktop (not finished yet) https://github.com/orgs/cafe-desktop are just MATE repos forks working with ctk
btw, a ctk theme installed is needed to improve the look
I will be happy if it is be useful for others

Personally I think ALL non-GNOME GTK-based desktops should band together and migrate to CTK (would be funny to see The Gimp moving over to CTK though). Leave the hot mess that GTK has become to the GNOME folks who seem so intent on ruining it.

Beside CTK there is also STLWRT and gtk3-classic.
I think those libraries should join forces to create a single library instead of everyone doing his own thing, then desktop environments and distributions would be more assured of changing to that library..
