[SCRIPT] gtk-alt-font

I use FixedSys as my "system-ui" font, and it happens to look terrible when shown in bold, italics, or fontsizes other than 12px. I have set up rules in my fontconfig to make sure the font behaves. However, chrome(ium) based applications, such as vivaldi, brave, VScode e.t.c. both ignore these fontconfig restrictions and have a tendency to show all kinds of text using "system-ui" as the font, making those applications (and webpages they show) unreadable.

I have found that it is possible to work around this by, setting a different font using xfconf-query before starting the application, to bypass this (the drawback is that in those applications, i cannot have my favorite FixedSys font for ui in those applications), and I have wrapped up a little script to ease this process.

Not sure if anyone else would ever need this, but here it is: https://github.com/budRich/gtk-alt-font
