About the buggy screensaver in ubuntu 20.04

Hi again!

So I use ubuntu 20.04, with native xfce desktop (xfce 4.14 from xubuntu).

A know problem is the impossibility to disable the screensaver: black screen during videos or games for example, even when all is deactivated and/or deinstalled.

A know solution is to use this command:

:~$ DISPLAY=":0.0" xset -dpms && xset s noblank && xset s off

But I would like to know more about this.
Why not just xset s off?

And, just for knowledge (I'm happy with this command), any other solution?

Have you tried presentation mode? It should disable all sleep/dimming activities when enabled. See:
