I like xfce start menu a little more than the whisker, I find it quicker and simpler. However, when I right click any item in it, it launches the app rather than give options such as add to desktop or to panel or the launcher editor. Even lxde has this feature. Can you add it to xfce as well in future? Thanks.

If you have menulibre installed, you can right-click the plugin, select properties and there will be an "Edit Menu" button there that will launch menulibre (or you can just launch menulibre).
Xfce has 3 menuing programs:
- the applications menu (does not allow editing launchers from the menu)
- whiskermenu (allows editing launchers from menu)
- appfinder (allows editing launchers from menu)
Feel free to create an enhancement request - if you can provide the patch itself it would be very helpful.

You can specify to use another menu editor by setting and using the "menu-editor" xfconf key. For example, to use alacarte:
xfconf-query -c xfce4-panel -p $(xfconf-query -c xfce4-panel -lv | grep applicationsmenu | awk '{print $1}')/menu-editor -t string -s alacarte --create
You can change alacarte to whatever xdg-compliant menu editor you wish to use.
