Properties for multiple files on desktop (4.16)

I'm using Xfce 4.16.
When I select multiple files on the desktop and hit the right mouse button on them, the menu item for properties is grayed out and not usable.
Why is that? Isn't that a bug? Shouldn't I be able to see total files and size of them like in regular folders?
