xfce4-power-manager

Can I change settings from the command line? I see I can use -c to bring up the dialog or --dump but can I actually change settings, is in via script?  I want to be able to change the monitor brightness reduction / blank so be like 1 minute after a certain time then change to longer like 15 minutes after a certain time. Figured I can make a simple cron job to change it at a certain time but I don't see the option to change the time from xfce4-power-manager command.

I want it long during the day when I'm working but short time to blank at night when the cats walk on the keyboard or bump the mouse.

Re: xfce4-power-manager

You can use xfconf-query.

$ xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -lv
/xfce4-power-manager/battery-button-action              3
/xfce4-power-manager/blank-on-battery                   5
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-level-on-ac             80
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-level-on-battery        20
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-on-battery              9
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-switch                  0
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-switch-restore-on-exit  1
/xfce4-power-manager/critical-power-action              1
/xfce4-power-manager/dpms-on-ac-off                     30
/xfce4-power-manager/dpms-on-ac-sleep                   20
/xfce4-power-manager/dpms-on-battery-off                15
/xfce4-power-manager/dpms-on-battery-sleep              10
/xfce4-power-manager/general-notification               true
/xfce4-power-manager/handle-brightness-keys             true
/xfce4-power-manager/hibernate-button-action            3
/xfce4-power-manager/inactivity-on-ac                   30
/xfce4-power-manager/inactivity-on-battery              15
/xfce4-power-manager/inactivity-sleep-mode-on-battery   1
/xfce4-power-manager/lid-action-on-battery              1
/xfce4-power-manager/logind-handle-lid-switch           true
/xfce4-power-manager/power-button-action                3
/xfce4-power-manager/presentation-mode                  false
/xfce4-power-manager/show-panel-label                   0
/xfce4-power-manager/show-presentation-indicator        true
/xfce4-power-manager/show-tray-icon                     false
/xfce4-power-manager/sleep-button-action                1

There are two possible states for brightness reduction: plugged-in and on battery:

$ xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -lv | grep brightness-level
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-level-on-ac             80
/xfce4-power-manager/brightness-level-on-battery        20

I want to be able to change the monitor brightness reduction / blank

When on battery, you would use something like:

xfconf-query -c xfce4-power-manager -p /xfce4-power-manager/brightness-level-on-battery -s 40
