Stopping a running application

I'm running the feh program on my Chromebox which is set to randomly display photos from a file on the screen continuously. I've tried to cancel the program by using CTRL-ALT-ESC without success.  How do I exit the program so I can unmount the usb stick where the file is located? (I want to add more photo files to it.)

Obviously, I can shutdown the computer to accomplish this but there must be a more sophisticated way to do this.

The two ways that I would do it:

1) open a terminal and enter this command as regular user:

pkill feh

2) Open Task Manager. Type "feh" in the search box and press Enter, then right-click the process that > kill

If I could get to terminal, I'd have already solved my problem. The real problem is that feh is running full screen and nothing I have tried on the Chromebox keyboard has allowed me to access anything else.

Hello, welcome to the forum!

I have xkill binded to a keyboard combination (Super+k, for superkill, hehe). The mouse cursor turns into a crosshair, and the app you click into is killed, super handy. Details in the linked article.

In Xubuntu 18.04 it's preinstalled through the x11-utils package.
