How to change the battery level icons of XFCE power manger?

Hey guys, Linux newb making his first post here:

My Lunbutu 18.04 (LXDE) system uses XFCE 1.6.1 as its power manager, and I want to change the battery icons. The default "battery discharging" icon makes it look like my system has full battery, even though it's at 77% right now.

Where are XFCE power manager icons located? Will replacing these default icons with my own do the trick?

Thanks

Re: How to change the battery level icons of XFCE power manger?

Hello and welcome.

xfce4-power-manager gets the icon names from upower. Try:

upower -d

...to see. There aren't many steps there, maybe 3 or 4.

The battery plugin offers more steps (it uses a progress bar).

I tried that upower command and was a bit confused by how I would change the icons from there. But I tried the battery plugin and really liked the progress bar, so messing around with upower might not be necessary if I can fix a new problem that has just come up:

Is it possible to remove the old power-manager icon? After installing the battery plugin, my taskbar now has two battery status indicators, which is redundant. (I could probably get used to it, but I would prefer to get the extra indicator off my tiny 1024 x 600 display.)

Thanks for your help.

You won't use upower to change the icon - it will just show you which icon is being used. It was meant as an FYI.

Is it possible to remove the old power-manager icon?

Right-click it, and select Remove.

The remove option doesn't show up in the right click menu, but I found another way. Had to go into the taskbar/panel settings and remove it there. The issue is resolved now, but thank you anyway for your help! The new battery plugin you suggested is much better.
