pulse audio spiking gpu temps

just installed xfce on my arch machine.  started seeing spikes in temps on my graphics card when streaming videos. did some troubleshooting related to graphics drivers and the like with no luck.   stumbled on the pulse audio problem.  by just opening the volume mixer on the panel the graphics card temps would spike.  then go back down when i closed the volume mixer.  and this is without any audio or video playing.  i uninstalled all things pulse and problem went away.

im new to xfce. anyone see this before?

Re: pulse audio spiking gpu temps

This issue is not related with XFCE.
Maybe pulse audio bug or just your gpu can't handle the hardware decoding of the video. Without more information is hard to guess.

Re: pulse audio spiking gpu temps

Turns out this wasnt a pulseaudio issue directly.  2 years later i decided to give pulseaudio another try. had no issue with GPU temps until I installed the pulseaudio-plugin.  if i use that panel plugin, GPU temps spike a bit and fans speed up.  i've replaced the plugin with pavucontrol and never had the issue again.
