full-screen click on xfce4-terminal causes full logout (panel crash?)

when i start xfce4-terminal with too large a geometry it comes up with a kind of full-screen mode that leaves the title-bar on and leaves the panel visible.  so i clicked on that middle button with + in at the right side of the title bar.  the screen went black for a second and then i got the login screen.  i logged back in and everything started back up.  is this a bug or just another way to logout?
