Disable Xfce for A Different DE?

I want to try gnome desktop. What services must i disable, cfg's to rename, etc, so nothing xfce is running when i boot gnome desktop?

i noticed that, after installing gnome and enabling gnome service, i'm still booting into xfce desktop.

i don't want to uninstall xfce-- want option to re-enable xfce later.

thx

Re: Disable Xfce for A Different DE?

You should be able to select Gnome from the Display Manager at login. Then you don't need to touch Xfce and you can select which you want to run everytime you log in.

I'm running xfce without a DM. I start xfce from command line.

I guess there must be a similar way to start Gnome but no idea. Probably best to ask your distro or Gnome, if they have a forum.
