programming languages

Xfce developers apparently don't hang out around here (forum.xfce.org).  of those people who do visit here, and often do programming, what programming language(s) do you use?   is it different for GUI interfaces (even if it never interfaces with Xfce in particular (e.g. is portable across many DEs)?

for me, my current choice is Python, though i still do some bash and have done some Pike and C and long ago did some assembly (S/370, Sparc, 6502).  but i have still never done any GUI programming, not counting some graphical stuff i did on an Apple II in 6502 assembly ages ago.  i am more of a sysadmin/netadmin person who happens to have some programming skills.  i was surprised to find that so many sysadmins don't have any programming skills at all, besides writing scripts that don't make decisions or run loops.
