Recently exo.git#master was updated to allow --disable-gtk2.
It still checks for libxfce4ui-1, a simple "sed -i~ '/libxfce4ui-1/d' configure.ac.in" fixes that for me. Is there a hard requirement for that variant of libxfce4ui?
It installs language files as "exo-1". Are they actually used by libexo2.so?

Probably best to create a bug report or ask at the xfce4-dev mailing list to get an exo developer to comment.
